age 1 Solutions is committed to the highest ethical standards, which includes taking care of our planet. To do our part, we now provide our clients 100% green web hosting, receive 100% of our energy from renewable wind power, support energy literacy in America, and recycle and conserve energy in-house to do our part to join the country in “going green.”
But that is not all! Page 1 Solutions is taking it even further with our new Page 1 Green Solutions Program. For every new custom website that we design, develop, and optimize, Page 1 Solutions will plant ten trees and rescue 1,000 sq. ft of rain forest in our client’s name.
The Page 1 Green Solutions Program is a triple combination of clean energy, green hosting, and good ol’ fashioned tree planting. Every new design/SEO client receives the following:
To plant these trees and to save this rain forest land, Page 1 has teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation. The trees are part of The Foundation’s Trees for America Program, which plants trees in fire damaged forest helping to restore the beauty of the landscape, support the local habitat, and offset carbon output.
The Rain Forest Rescue Program helps to save endangered Maya Rainforest located in Belize, Guatemala, and Mexico. Through several efforts that include purchasing acreage, creating nature-based tourism, replanting seedlings, and local community education, The Arbor Day Foundation and your 1,000 sq. ft. are saving one of the world’s most precious resources.
By choosing to find green solutions for ourselves and our clients, our web marketing firm is helping to stimulate new economies and protect our environment. In a massive migration spanning two months, Page 1 Solutions now offers 100% Green Web Hosting. Provided by the Rackspace “Greenspace Initiative,” our servers use low voltage processors plus energy efficient drives and memory. Our processors use 28% less watts, our RAM uses 40% less energy, and our drives use 20% less power.
For the energy that we do use, Rackspace is working with the non-profit NativeEnergy, Inc. to offset the CO2 emissions. Our carbon footprint is calculated by annual energy use and converted into carbon credits, which are spent on renewable energy projects like wind farms and methane farms.
This means that all of our clients’ websites are hosted on 100% green servers.
In August 2008 Page 1 Solutions decided to take going-green one giant step forward by joining the Windsource® from Xcel Energy® plan. This means that 100% of our electricity comes from Colorado wind farms. This program is Green-e Certified and meets the environmental and consumer protection standards established by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions.
Supporting Green EducationPage 1 Solutions has worked with a number of non-profit organizations in the past, and we hope to work with many more in the future. For the last few years, Page 1 has worked closely with EnergyLiteracy.org, a non-partisan, non-profit, public education organization. By providing green hosting, web design, web development, search engine positioning, and web marketing, EnergyLiteracy.org has grown its online presence and helped to spread energy literacy to all parts of our country.
For years, the employees of Page 1 Solutions have made recycling of aluminum and plastic part of the everyday routine at the company. But now, there are even more “green” behaviors throughout the office.
In an effort to conserve energy and reduce the company’s electric bill, all employees have begun turning off their computers (or monitors) before leaving for the day, and fewer and fewer light bulbs can be seen burning in the offices and cubes throughout the complex.
Several employees have arranged for car pool groups to use less gas and to reduce fuel emissions. Every now and again, you’ll even see a bicycle parked in a vacant cube in the building.
In an effort to minimize our use of paper in the company, photocopying and printing intra-office memos and documents have been reduced.
All of our restrooms will have new towel dispensers installed to minimize the waste of paper towels. Our new dishwasher eliminates the need for plastic utensils, Styrofoam cups and paper plates.
